Domestic Postgraduate fees
Fees for postgraduate coursework programs at Western will be either:
- Domestic full fee paying, OR
- Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) limited for 2027, OR
- Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) ongoing
Step 1: Calculate my fees
You will need to check the Domestic Postgraduate Fee Schedules under the relevant school below to view your tuition fees.
The fee schedule is revised each calendar year, and therefore fees may increase annually.
Please note that tuition fees do not include other expenses associated with university study such as the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), books, equipment, accommodation and living expenses.
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
Please refer to the Commonwealth Supported Students webpage for additional fee and census compliance information.
Domestic full Fee Paying
If your program is not offered under CSP, you will be enrolled as a Domestic full Fee Paying (DFP) student. This means the Government does not subsidise your tuition and you will be paying the full domestic rate for the cost of your subjects.

Step 2: Check if you're eligible to defer your fees
Check your Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) eligibility on the HECS-HELP & FEE-HELP page.
To apply for HELP you will also need to provide a valid Tax File Number (TFN) in the electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) and a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) in MySR by census.
International students, ineligible New Zealand citizens and other permanent residents are not able to defer their fees under HELP.
Step 3: Manage your fees
Fee deadlines
Census date is the financial deadline to ensure you have either:
- Paid your tuition fees upfront; or
- Submitted a valid USI and a valid TFN in your eCAF to defer your tuition fees (for HELP eligible students)

Fees can be paid through the secure online Payments portal.

Step 4: Check your eCAN
Your electronic Commonwealth Assistance Notice (eCAN) is an official record of your fees and enrolment. You need to check this to make sure all details are correct. Your eCAN will be available in My Student Records (MySR) within 28 days of the approved census date.
